Overview


10,000 Degrees provides scholarships to individuals with significant financial need who exhibit a strong desire to go to college, and who have the perseverance necessary to graduate from college and accomplish their educational goals.


The Priority Deadline is Thursday, March 2nd, 2023.


To submit the application you will need to:
  • Upload your most recent unofficial transcript.
  • Complete either the FAFSA (fafsa.ed.gov) or the California Dream Act Application (dream.csac.ca.gov/) and have available a copy of the resulting Student Aid Report (SAR).

In order to complete your application, you must submit the Student Aid Report (SAR or CAL SAR) which you receive after filling out either the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the California Dream Act Application (CADAA). Please note: if you do not attach the SAR form, you will be disqualified from receiving a scholarship unless there are specific circumstances preventing you from doing so.

To be eligible you must be:
  1. Pursuing a post-secondary degree in an art field and 
  2. Able to demonstrate passion and aptitude for the field

  1. A letter of recommendation: ask that the recommender include the date, applicant's name, author's name, telephone number, address, and relationship with the applicant. 
  2. Portfolio samples of your art work.

Asian Scholarship

In order to apply you must be a graduating high school senior from the Bay Area, have at least one parent of Asian or Pacific Islander descent, and have a high school GPA of at least 3.0.

Additional Requirements:  In addition to answering the questions below, you must submit one letter of recommendation (must be academic). Please ask the individuals writing your recommendations to include the date, applicant's name, author's name, telephone number, address, and relationship with the applicant. Please make sure to note that the letter is for the Asian Scholarship.

Richard T. Torkelson Scholarship

Established in memory of Richard T. Torkelson, a Press Democrat reporter, this scholarship provides support to students residing in Sonoma, Lake and Mendocino counties who have demonstrated an interest in journalism, communications, photojournalism, documentary art and non-fiction digital media.

Additional Requirements:   The following supplemental materials must be uploaded or emailed to scholarships@10000degrees.org:

  • Two samples of your best work for print or broadcast

  • Two letters of recommendation from instructors or close associates (excluding relatives).  Make sure letter of recommendation states it's for the Richard T. Torkelson Scholarship. 





American Institute of Architects Redwood Empire Scholarship

The Redwood Empire chapter of the AIA provides scholarships for students from Sonoma, Mendocino, Humboldt, DelNorte, Lake, Modoc, Siskiyou and Trinity Counties pursuing post-secondary education in architecture.  Selection criteria will include academic and non-academic performance, as well as financial need.

To apply for this scholarship you must be pursuing an undergraduate degree in architecture or post-secondary education in architecture accredited by the National Architectural Accrediting Board. 

Application Requirements: 

You must submit a Portfolio – which should include work that reflects your interest in architecture or which demonstrates your creative abilities. Examples may include drafting, photography, computer graphics, writing, cartooning, art, sculpture or any other media.

Sonoma County Medical Association & Alliance Health Careers Scholarship

To apply you must be a Sonoma County resident, or have graduated from a Sonoma County high school, and must demonstrate outstanding academic achievement with a 3.0 GPA or higher.  This scholarship is open to students at all education levels. 

Application Requirements for Sonoma County Medical Association & Alliance Health Careers Scholarship Fund are:   

1) A short answer to why you have selected this major.

2) A personal statement (1 page maximum)

3) Two letters of recommendation from instructors or professional associates (excluding relatives).  The letters must be current.

To be eligible you must have graduated from a Marin County high school and be enrolled in a 5th year teaching credential program in 2022 - 2023.

Solomon Scholarship

Solomon Scholarship Questions

The Solomon Scholarship Fund is intended to assist qualified MBA, MPP, and Joint Degree (MA/MBA and MPP/MBA) candidates who have been accepted into the Lokey School of Business and Public Policy at Mills College but do not have and are otherwise unable to obtain financial resources to attend.


This fund is named for Winifred Solomon who was born in 1928 in Brooklyn, New York.  Winnie, as she has always been known, graduated high school at age 16 and attended City College of New York with a major in Industrial Management, a very rare concentration for a woman in the 1940's.


She married at age 19 and enjoyed a 61-year marriage to her husband.  They raised two boys near Boston, Massachusetts, and Winnie was always active in local politics and progressive social causes.  Her first full time professional job was as the very first Equal Employment Officer for the Faculty of Arts and Sciences at Harvard University. Later she was a Dean (for administration) at the Harvard Divinity School.  Throughout her career and in her professional life, Winnie was a mentor and a role model for young women and men.

 

In retirement, she and her husband relocated to the San Francisco Bay Area, where she died peacefully in 2016 at the age of 88.




RAMCO Scholarship

RAMCO Scholarship Questions


RAMCO's Scholarship Program is  funded by RAMCO to enable our hard-working, dedicated employees or the  children of our employees to further their educational and career goals. All funds awarded through the program can be applied towards a scholastic or vocational program of your choice.


RAMCO offers these scholarships to qualified applicants company wide including the areas of Watsonville, Salinas, Santa Maria, Oxnard, and Yuma, AZ.


Who is Eligible?

  1. Any RAMCO employee  or their children presently enrolled, or who will be enrolled anytime during the upcoming academic year. The applicant or appli­cant's parent must be a current/active RAMCO employee.
  2. Applicants must be either high school seniors or currently enrolled full time in a four- year college/ university, junior college or accredited trade school. Scholarships will be one-year allocations.
  3. Applicants must maintain a minimum cu­mulative GPA of 2.5 to be considered. Past scholarship winners must have a minimum of 3.0 GPA to reapply.

Joseph James Scholarship



What is the Joseph James Scholarship?

This scholarship program was mandated by the settlement agreement with the CA State Attorney General as a remedy for operating a segregated school and a racially discriminatory educational program.


Who can apply for the scholarship?

Any students who attended Bayside Martin Luther King Academy for 4 or more consecutive months from 8/1/13 to 6/13/19 and;

Are enrolled or enrolling in an accredited college or trade program at least part time.

We have limited scholarships available for students with learning disabilities.


Mount Tamalpais College Scholarship Fund
This is a fund that supports students formerly involved with Mount Tamalpais College, formerly known as the Prison University Project.  

Ron Rudolph Scholarship



Dry Creek Valley Scholarship

This scholarship was established by the Dry Creek Valley Association in cooperation with the Winegrowers of Dry Creek Valley. It provides support to residents or children of residents of the Dry Creek Valley Watershed of Sonoma County who have financial need and have demonstrated academic merit and involvement in community and extracurricular activities.

Requirements: To apply for this scholarship you must be a resident or a child of a resident of Dry Creek Valley.


Andy Wallstrum Scholarship


This scholarship honors the life work of Andy Wallstrum by supporting students who are graduates of Lawrence Cook Middle School in Santa Rosa. Awards are given to students who have demonstrated improvement in their academic grades or behavior.

Additional Requirements:   In addition to answering the following question, please attach one letter of recommendation from an instructor, principal, counselor, or other school professional verifying improvement in your academic grades or behavior.  It does not have to be someone from Lawrence Cook Middle School.  Attach the letter below or email to scholarships@10000degrees.org. Please make sure to note that the letter is for the Andy Wallstrum Scholarship.
